CCP Description
.

The Communication Certification Program (CCP) provides Seventh-day Adventist communication professionals around the globe the opportunity to access foundational skills as well as high-level skills necessary to the performance of the communication function for the Church.

Organized as a function of the Department of Communication of the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists, the CCP operates under the auspices of the Director of Communication who chairs the Certification and Accreditation Board.

A Certification Manager oversees the Certification Program, ensuring consistent rigor across the globe as Divisions adapt the Certification Program for their geographic territories.

The checklist of requirements includes a core journalist course, testing over Church identity and Statement of Ethics, and stylebook. Certification also requires a battery of readings, an externship, and elective workshops to earn the required CEUs to complete certification.

Tracks for certification include:

  • Media Relations
  • Journalism (Web, Print or Broadcast)
  • Public Relations
  • Corporate Communications (Strategic and Crisis skills included)
  • Web Communication and Social Networking
  • Media Production

Application of the Certification Program will vary according to the needs and culture of respective geographical Divisions.

The Communication Certification Program will be able to partner with academic institutions, professors, and professionals in the delivery of specific skill-oriented content. An emphasis on ethics and professionalism will permeate the certification program.

The Communication Certification Program will include a maintenance program post certification with a CEU requirement to maintain certification.
