Journalism Track
Completion of 120 total credits which include the following:
1. Completion of the 20-hour Fundamentals of Journalism course
2. Completion of the AP Stylebook and Statement of Ethics test, including the Society of Professional Journalists’ Code of Ethics, the Seventh-day Adventist Statement of Ethics, and the Church corporate identity package.
3. Completion of 30 hours of readings in journalism according to the journalism track in coordination with the Certification Manager.
4. Completion of a 40-hour externship at an approved newspaper, publishing house, broadcast newsroom, web publishing company, magazine, or other organization and a report on the experience submitted to the Certification Manager.
5. Completion of seminars, workshops, courses, or other approved learning opportunities totaling 30 hours. Skill areas include:

- Feature Article Writing
- Electronic News Gathering
- Photojournalism
- Media Law and Ethics
- Investigative Reporting
- Communication in the Electronic Society
- Communication on the Web
- Publication Production and Design
- Broadcast Reporting, Anchoring, Producing, and Documentaries
- Religion Reporting
- Other Journalism-related courses by approval
