This award is named in honor of the late Reger Cutting Smith Jr., who served the Seventh-day Adventist Church for 27 years in public relations, graphic design, photography, and other areas of communication.

During his career, Reger displayed great innovation and creativity in numerous projects that benefited the Church. For example, he composed the 2005 General Conference Session theme song, created the session public relations campaign, and used his design skills to produce brochures, books, banners, and other public relations materials for churches, schools, hospitals, ministries, and church-related organizations.  He also served as the prime coordinator for the Visitor’s Center at the Adventist World Headquarters in Silver Spring, Md. SAC has created the Reger Smith Cutting Edge Award to recognize communicators who also produce creative, innovative, and cutting edge projects.

The recipient of this award will be chosen by the SAC Board from the entries into the Award of Excellence category.
